Flowers in High Grass

Catherine came in town this last weekend and we spent a bit of time at my grandmother's house. She has a vast array of garden scenery for me to photograph and I took the opportunity to try some HDR with it. I really like how the green's just pop in this photo, but at the same time I wish the flowers were brought out just a bit more.

I am also trying out the Blog feature that is available at flickr.com. So excuse the untidyness at the moment if everything seems to be a little crazy.

Photo Walk - The Real Pictures

On Monday I went on a photo walk with Jena. I posted a couple pictures before that were quazi-HDR style, but here are some real ones without all the special effects added.

Those are my favorites for the day and hopefully if the weather remains nice I will get to go on another walk real soon.

Downtown Photo Walk - HDR Attempt

I found HDR photography on Sunday and I really enjoyed the style. So yesterday I went on a architectural based photo walk in downtown Houston to see what kind of results I could get. Here are two of the better results:

Canon...you just can't stop

Just when I thought I could stop myself from wanting a new lens, Canon had to go and scream NO! On Sept. 1, Canon announced their newest addition the the L series line-up: the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L USM Macro Lens. One of the biggest features that Canon is pushing with this lens is the new Hybrid IS technology, which is supposed to make handheld macro photography much easier.

Canon has said that it will be released near the end of October with the suggested retail price of $1,049.00. It is the fourth true macro lens by Canon, joining the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro, and the EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM. Maybe, if all else fails, this will drop the price of the non L 100mm Macro for the rest of us!

It's time for some FOOTBALL!!

It's been a long time since the last post, but the other day I went out to my brothers football scrimmage. This gave me a good chance to test out my daylight sports photography skills. I went ahead and posted a few of the pictures that I seemed to like the most, its hard to narrow it down from over 600 photo's.

Earlier last week I was hoping to grab Canons 100mm 2.8 macro, but as of today it is back to being out of stock. It seems to be a pretty hard to get lens. Next time I will be sure to grab it as soon as I find it.

Onto the photos!

Images from months past...

Well, a few things that I have almost forgotten about until now. Up first was for a movie poster project for one of my classes last semester. We were told to create three original movie posters and this was considered to be my "funny" poster of the bunch. I think it pretty much explains itself...

Following, is another poster design I presented to the Siggraph Conference, in their annual poster contest. This one has been in hiding mostly because I was waiting to hear back from the Siggraph judges. Sadly, I was not successful in making it to the finals of judging, there is always next year. The theme of this contest was "Network Your Senses." Since the Siggraph conference is all about technology, they encourage the theme to portray technology as much as possible. Overall my idea was to incorporate Binary Code in the shape of a face, to represent the senses. The Binary Code itself says "Wellcome to Siggraph 2009 in New Orleans! Network your senses."

Rocko's Modern Life...

Don't ask me why, but that song is stuck in my head. I have not seen an episode of that in years and it randomly just popped up while I was trying to break down my designers block. With summer school officially over as of 9:00PM tonight, hopefully I will have more time to actually enjoy part of my summer. Well, the part that does not involve me sitting in my freezing cold office 8 ours a day. I have a few things I would like to accomplish before this summer is complete:

Design and Publish Personal Design Website
Enter Multiple Design/Photography/Photoshop Contests on Worth1000.com
Find out more information about becoming an ACE (Adobe Certified Expert)

Doesn't seem like to long of a list...but I am sure it will grow as the summer, or even this week, goes on. About time to call it a night so I can get up bright and early for work!
